A launch ceremony of the ISWMC project had taken place on the 19th of December 2023 and MTC Orec Sdn Bhd expresses pride in contributing to the Penang State Local Government and Greenviro's vision for Renewable Natural Gas, marking a significant stride towards sustainability.
Penang plans to reinstate the Waste Segregation at Source Policy in July next year, as announced by Jason H’ng Mooi Lye, Chairman of the State Local Government, Urban and Rural Planning Committee. Spearheading this initiative, MTC Orec Sdn Bhd is taking charge as the technology provider and turnkey contractor for an innovative Biomethane upgrading plant. This plant will process landfill organic waste gas, converting it into a gas quality suitable for injection into the national pipeline grid.
The Integrated Solid Waste Management Center (ISWMC) is owned and operated by Greenviro, set on a four-hectare site, is scheduled to handle domestic, garden, construction, and demolition waste by February 1,2025. Its estimated daily capacity of 1,200 tonnes is projected to reach maximum capacity by 2040. Notably, the ISWMC's presence will curtail domestic waste sent to the Pulau Burung Landfill (TPSPB),consequently extending the landfill's lifespan.
