MTC Group Sets New Sustainability Benchmarks in Offshore Engineering

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – MTC Group, a pioneer in sustainable offshore engineering, reinforced its industry leadership at the 25th Offshore Asia Pacific + FPS Malaysia Event this week. The company showcased groundbreaking strategies to reduce carbon emissions and enhance cost efficiency in Floating Production Storage (FPS) mooring systems, aligning with global efforts to decarbonize the oil and gas sector.

During a keynote presentation titled “Reducing the Carbon Footprint in FPS Mooring Systems: How Does It Work?”, MTC’s Lead Mooring & SURF Engineer Fareez Shukor highlighted the company’s role in advancing eco-conscious solutions for FPSO life extension and FSO replacement projects. The session underscored actionable strategies to balance operational demands with environmental stewardship.

MTC information sharing included sustainable mooring practices with impact on emission reduction and cost saving. Comparative analysis revealed that targeted sectional upgrades of mooring systems rather than full-chain replacements can extend asset longevity while slashing material waste. Detailed lifecycle assessments demonstrated how optimizing material production, offshore logistics, and recycling protocols can cut emissions by up to 65.79%, as proven in two Malaysian offshore fields. Strategic mooring solutions could yield operational savings of $2 million per project, boosting both profitability and sustainability.

MTC emphasized the importance of aligning with tightening global sustainability regulations, advocating for proactive adoption of eco-friendly engineering solutions. By integrating lifecycle assessments and innovative engineering, the company is not only reducing emissions but also future-proofing its operations for decades to come.

MTC Group continues to partner with energy giants and policymakers to scale sustainable practices. Their work supports Malaysia’s ambition to become a regional hub for green offshore engineering, blending technical expertise with circular economy principles.
